Giffin Valiant Solid Body (PBG)
The Valiant from Roger Giffin (built by Gene Baker for PBG) is a solid body design unashamedly aimed at anyone who plays, or has played a LP from the 50's and wants a more up to date version of that venerable axe. Roger designed this guitar expressly because of the volume of requests he constantly received asking "can you build me a Les Paul?" Roger used his knowledge and experience with the materials and construction methods used on the originals, simplifying in places, and improving in others, and built a guitar that has all of the tonal qualities of a vintage instrument with some improvements in playability and functionality.
The straight string-pull headstock and slightly reduced head pitch angle give the guitar a lower string tension. Great modern pickups (Amalfitano Fullbuckers) in the true PAF style give warm lows and singing highs, and the wraparound bridge gives the guitar more sustain than the tune-o-matic and stop-bar combination. A great rock guitar!
