Collings Electric Guitars Info

Beginning in 2006 Bill Collings interest in carved top instruments led him to introduce a line of electric guitars that guitar players quickly embraced because of the instruments’ exceptional craftsmanship, tone and their attention to detail in reproducing the classic Kalamazoo-era sounds that many players had a hard time finding in other more modern versions.  Collings Guitars builds these fine handcrafted electric guitars in Austin, Texas in the same facility they create their acoustic gems. These instruments appeal to anyone looking for one of the very best electric set-neck guitars built in the USA today. Collings builds solid and semi-hollow body electric guitars in the Kalamazoo-style body shapes that guitarists have grown to love over the years. Information presented below is a short buying and guide to the various electric guitars models produced by Collings. The information is a starting point, showing many of the "standard" features found on each model line. The upgrade and add-on specifications are virtually endless so please give us a call or shoot us an email to discuss any custom plans you might have.

The LC Series (which is now available on both the I35 and SoCo models)  is the result of a custom laminated construction technique that Bill Collings and his R&D team developed in pursuit of the best tonal qualities of vintage semi-hollow guitar design. When crafting instruments designed to be used electrically at higher volumes, the resonant qualities of a guitar need a high degree of focus to achieve some of the classic semi-hollow guitar tones. The laminate instruments are designed to respond acoustically in perfect harmony with their electronics. Custom crafted in house for each guitar, the Collings laminate line has provided another unique way for Collings Guitars to voice each instrument for unparallelled response and tone. The I35 and So Co LC models feature a custom laminate maple top, sides and back and an all mahogany neck. The result is some of the most articulate and versatile electric models produced by Coillings Guitars.
